A small glimpse into my life

My Story

You know what they say, there's no place like home. The name Caverhill Photography comes from the road I grew up on and where my passion for photography began! Ever since I was a little girl. I would drag my friends around the farm and property and have "photo shoots".  When I was in Grade 6, I took my first real course; it was a week long summer camp at UNB and I will never forget it. Any money I received I would tuck away in my camera funds. I sold pumpkins, ranked wood, and started saving every penny through middle school to buy my first real camera. I bought my first camera in 2013. It was a Fujifilm SL240. I took that camera everywhere with me, I took pictures of everyone, and everything. Unfortunately, I had a mishap and the camera got broken and it wasn't until 2019 that I picked a camera back up again, fast forward to 2022 and here we are. I lost all interest during high school because I was constantly told "You'll never make a living off of photography" and was very involved in my courses and extracurricular, so it was put to the back of my mind. After high school, I went to college for Dental Hygiene for a few months, learned it wasn't for me, and moved back home and went straight back to working again. I jumped from job to job, never truly happy where I was. I worked in a chicken hatchery, labor for potato farmers, manager of a canteen, serving, bartending, and cleaning.

Now here's where it gets a little more complicated. In January of 2020, I was put off full time work indefinitely due to a massive Ulcerative Colitis and PSC flare up. If you don't know what those diseases are, don't be surprised as PSC is rare. It's short for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, and it basically means my bile ducts in my liver are closing in with scar tissue. I have monthly bloodwork and ultrasounds every 3 months, and have gastro, liver and family doctors on call. Generally speaking, I'm fairly healthy right now. My numbers are good, I rest when I need to and I work my OWN hours which is the absolute best part of being a photographer. If I need a day of rest, I take a day of rest. If I have a big session or shoot coming up, I make sure to get extra rest before hand (and extra coffee the day of!). I want people to know that I don't let these diseases run my life, and that if they have questions about them, I'm happy to answer.

Every client that books with me truly makes me so happy. From capturing your wedding, to watching your family grow up, I want to be there for your special moments and create a relationship that lasts outside of our session. I love meeting new people and and coming together with families and friends. So to all that have booked with me so far, THANK YOU, and to those thinking of booking in the future, I CAN'T WAIT!
